Crystal Friday Market opened yesterday, Friday, June 28th at 3 PM. It ran until 7 PM. It was in the south parking lot of the Crystal Community Center. There was one vendor, but next Friday there should be 5. This event will run every Friday from 3-7 PM through October. What a success! People kept coming constantly! And what beautiful, fresh, local food! I think this is the beginning of a wonderful new tradition in Crystal!
I have been working with some people over the past year to bring a farmer’s market to Crystal. This is finally becoming a reality! This Friday, June 28th will be the first farmer’s market in Crytsal! It will be at the Crystal Community Center parking lot from 4-7 PM.
As it is just beginning, it will be small. But, this is something that I think the citizens of Crystal will embrace and it will grow over time. I am excited to add this to our Crystal Community!
Here is an article in this week’s SunPost.
Crystal, Golden Valley and New Hope have a common drinking water distribution system. There is a water main pipeline failure in Robbinsdale.
The three cities are issuing a water emergency and there is a temporary yard and lawn sprinkling ban in the three cities until further notice.

There will be an informational meeting about bringing a food co-op to the former Rainbow Foods location in Robbinsdale. This meeting will be held on Monday, June 24th at 7 PM at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, 3978 West Broadway. Please come if you live in the area and are interested in a local food co-op!
At the June 4th, 2013 City Council meeting, the council passes with a 4-3 vote, to approve the solar panel project on the Crystal Community Center. I was one of the yes votes, to go ahead with this project.
Crystal had put in an application to receive grants from Xcel Energy, and was one of the cities to get this paperwork in early enough. We were approved to receive a grant for 100% of the cost of the solar panels. The solar panels will be installed on the Community Center later this year.
