I taped an episode of Northwest City Politics with Juanita Hoff this week at the Northwest Community Access Television studio. It will air this Wednesday, September 26th at 8:30 PM on Channel 19 in the Northwest suburbs. It will also air on Thursday, September 27th at 4:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
There was also a Brooklyn Park and a Plymouth City Council member interviewed on the same episode. I am the first candidate to speak in the interview. I will post the episode on my website when it is available to me.
I filmed a 45 second commercial spot available to local candidates on Channel 12 news with Northwest Community Access Television. The spot should air on the 4:00 PM news on Tuesday, October 9th. It should then air about 10-12 times over a 24 hour period as the news repeats, and then after that there should be a link to the spot at Channel 12 New’s website. I will post the link when it is available, and inform you if the air date changes.
Jill Stein, Green Party presidential candidate, was back in Minneapolis on August 25th, 2012. I had another chance to hear her speak and meet with her. She is very inspirational for America. Her platform includes helping main street America, who needs the help to get our economy going, and not Wall Street, and ending the wars that we are in and bringing our troops home. Go Jill Go!
The primary results are in. I was voted through and will be on the Tuesday, November 6th ballot! Thank you to all my supporters out there! It was great to get out and meet so many of my neighbors and talk about Crystal issues before the primary.
I have loved communicating with so many of you via e-mail with questions and comments that you’ve had for me. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions before the general election in November. I want to always stay connected with you and represent the concerns that you have in your community.
I look forward to connecting with many more of you before November!
I enjoyed getting out to participate with so many of you at your National Night Out events! I loved seeing the number of my neighbors who hold a block party and get out to socialize with their neighbors. Thank you all for inviting me into your events and for the hospitality that you extended to me! I look forward to more opportunities like this to connect to my neighbors and get to know you! I even made it back to my own block’s block party in time to see the firetrucks arrive and take my children to explore the vehicle (I was fortunate that evening that the truck came to Xenia later in the evening!).
The candidate forum prior to the August 14th primary took place on August 2nd, 2012. If you were not able to see it as it aired on Community Access Television, you can view it at this link. The City of Crystal Section 1 candidates debate starts around 42:25 on the video.
I love Crystal Frolics! And I was proud to participate in the parade this year. My family marched in the parade with me, as well as some of my supporters. Before the parade started, Keith Ellison came over to meet me. We had signs showing the 10-key values of The Green Party (Grassroots Democracy, Social and Economic Justice, Ecological Wisdom, Nonviolence, Decentralization, Community-Based Economics, Feminism and Gender Equality, Respect for Diversity, Personal and Global Responsibility, and Future Focus and Sustainability).
Keith saw us getting ready with all our 10-key value signs. He said we looked good and he supported the message we were projecting, so he had to come over and let us know and meet us. My family and I got a photo with him while he stopped by. It was nice to meet Keith that day and hear that he liked the Green Party 10-key values.
I enjoyed meeting many Crystal residents that day. I strongly support Crystal Frolics, as it is such a wonderful community building event! I am proud to live in a community with such a great summer festival! I have enjoyed going for years, and now I love to take my children there.
I am proud to announce that I am officially endorsed by Women Winning! I believe it is important for more women to run for politics and I am happy to do this to increase the number of women running. We need the perspective of women in our political landscape. Women make up 51% of our population and have been drastically underrepresented historically.
I am honored to stand up as a woman in Crystal who cares, is able to commit to my city, and to take on this incredibly important task of running to serve our city. I hope you will also find it important to have more women representing us in Crystal. Please stand with me and give me your vote on Tuesday, November 6th!
I had the chance to take an intro to Beekeeping class, presented by The BeezKneez in Minneapolis. We were able to tour a working apiary on an urban farm in Minneapolis and get in close to see the bees. We were in protective beekeeper suits of course. I even got to hold a frame of bees! It probably held 300-400 bees on it while I was holding it! The bees were very docile and it was a wonderful experience!
I would support allowing apiaries within the City of Crystal. These bees provided a valuable pollinating function on this urban farm, produced wonderful local honey for sale, and help to assist honey bee populations which have been in decline throughout the U.S. recently. And all of this is invigorating the economy of Minneapolis through urban agriculture as this company operates throughout the city. What an inventive business model for these Minneapolis citizens!
My campaign has really gotten off on a good start. I’m working hard to get my message out to local residents. I have been door-knocking and flyering (with lots more to come!). I want the residents of Crystal to know that I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm to put into the council. I really care about our community. I live here, I’m raising my kids here; there’s nothing more important than making the place we live a good, safe, vibrant place to live.
With the primary coming fast on August 14th, 2012, I need my message to get out fast. I count on your support to help me get through, and I know I can count of the residents of the City of Crystal to help me out. I am one of you. I am the candidate who will be here to truly listen to you and advocate on the City Council to get the voice of the residents heard. This has been one theme that I’ve been hearing as I’ve been out talking to my neighbors, that the city has not been responsive to the needs and concerns of the people in Crystal. I would like to try to change this and make the City Council and the city employees listen to residents and have a better forum to hear and respond to these views.
I would like to see a lot of my yard signs out in the community, supporting a new direction and energy, in our City Council. Help me to make a real change and bring our voice to the City Council! E-mail me at email@example.com or call me at 763-670-2721 if you would like a sign in your front yard!
